Year of the Ram – Second Entry
My lord, Monster, was powerless to stop Ghast. As the
undead abomination took to the skies, my lord was forced to endure
the pain of his recently opened wounds. Venomous anger only further
aided the pain his body suffered, and with it, a sense of
hopelessness took root in his otherwise confident heart. My lord had
no allies at this time, nor did he prior to his banishment. I often
question if my lord has ever known the comfort of having friends,
much less simply someone to rely on. Perhaps if fate had been kinder
to him, he would not have despaired as he unwittingly summoned such
evil into the world. But despite the quarrel that raged in his heart
and mind, my lord was in fact not completely alone. Inevitably, my
lord would come to learn that he was being observed during the
moments when he unleashed his imprisoned half-brother. My lord has
revealed this to me as well so that I may record his tale
chronologically. As my lord raged over his failures and the fear of
his inevitable demise at the hand of such a loathsome creature as
Ghast, Wraith, the ghost Primeran who had escorted my lord to Earth,
was watching him from a distance.
My
lord has asked me explicitly to never speak ill of Wraith so long as
I continue to document his rise to power. I have never met Wraith,
but based on what my lord has told me prior to his discovery of
Ghast, I would have believed Wraith to be a manipulative scoundrel
with selfish intent, but why he has yet to reveal to me why I should
never picture him so negatively continues to remain a mystery to me.
I, like many other Primerans, have not had many encounters with those
of the Ghost Clan. They are, for the most part, a mystery to
commoners such as myself. Some say that elder Primerans know more
about them, but either refrain from enlightening others out of fear
or simple ignorance. The only Primerans that may have some clue as to
the origins of the Ghost's existence would be those that were alive
during the time they began to appear over five hundred years ago.
Only the eldest of Primarins might remember... Including the Black
Hearts. Seeing that my lord has begun to speak of one such as Ghast,
he may permit me to write about such things soon.
Wraith would eventually appear before my lord and
attempt to connect with him. My lord, of course, had no desire to
listen to Wraith, as he failed to aid him in his fight with Animal.
Though it is true that Wraith brought him to Earth to reclaim his
birthright, Wraith had no obligation to help him at all. Again, my
lord chooses to not reveal to me certain things. This I speak of is
his battle with Animal. How Animal defeated my lord remains a mystery
to me, and the fact that he pleaded to Wraith for assistance is,
again, a secret. I wish to assist my lord in documenting his travels,
but he refrains from revealing such important information. I wonder
if he has yet to acknowledge my sincerity and devotion...
Regardless, Wraith approached my lord and belittled him
for his apparent lack of foresight. He replied that there was no way
he could have possibly known that the creature that lay asleep in the
crystalline structure was an apprentice to a Black Heart. My lord
retaliated by interrogating if Wraith had just arrived or if he was
standing aside and refusing to help for a second time. Wraith was
hesitant to respond, but admitted that he arrived the moment that
Ghast was set free, stating that he would have had no chance to deter
my lord from his course of action had he arrived prior to his
mistake. My lord has told me that Wraith was willing to offer his
assistance by healing his wounds. Not surprisingly, my lord rejected
Wraith's assistance and asked why he would even think of doing such a
thing, considering the circumstances of their prior conflict. Wraith
went on to explain that he has a history with Ghast and that it would
not be tactically beneficial for my lord to rush in and face him head
on, as seeing him might provoke Ghast further. Again, my lord asked
why he should accept Wraith's assistance. He replied that my lord
would have a much better chance of success of surprising Ghast and
attacking him while his guard was down. My lord recalled how Ghast
said that he would be sparred, seeing as how they shared the same
father. My lord agreed to allow Wraith to use his strange magic in
order to heal his wounds, but added that even if he managed to
surprise Ghast and deal a decisive blow, it would only be temporary.
For he explained that Animal was the only thing currently on Earth
with a chance to defeat Ghast, and spare all of their lives.
With his strength restored, my lord took flight and
contemplated Wraith's intentions. Wraith failed to help him in his
battle against Animal, who by all means should not have been a match
for him. My lord considered the possibility that Wraith was nurturing
Animal in an attempt to make him stronger for some unknown purpose.
But Wraith should know what kind of power he is attempting to
control. Again, I must admit that not understanding what exactly
allowed Animal to defeat my lord is making this quite a challenge to
convey. It is my hope that all will be revealed to me soon, for my
lord must have some faith in me to divulge such secrets to me so far.
My lord flew towards a human burial site where Ghast
could be seen battling Animal, who was losing the fight, as Ghast
simply dominated him with a golden power that allowed him to
manipulate Animal's body at will. Ghast dealt a devastating blow by
impaling Animal with a scythe-like weapon and leaving him to dangle
upon its blade like a flag atop a mast on a windless day. Believing
that Animal was indeed the key to defeating Ghast, my lord raced
toward the battle, the lumen animus trailing from his frame as he
shot through the sky like a red comet. He exhaled a wave a dragon's
fire that blanketed the battlefield, but was unsuccessful in harming
Ghast, who used a bizarre green cloud to redirect the flames as they
appeared to pass through him. My lord was prepared to face his
blasphemous brother. Oh, how I cannot wait to hear what my lord tells
me next!
